Le double champion du monde 2005 et 2006 entame ce qui est probablement le dernier projet de sa carrière à l'âge de 41 ans. Après des passages chez Minardi (2001), Renault (2003-2006, 2008-2009), McLaren (2007, 2015-2018), Ferrari (2010-2014) et Alpine (2021-2022), il tente de revenir sur le devant de la scène avec Aston Martin. En plus d'une carrière historique en F1, l'Espagnol compte deux triomphes aux 24 Heures du Mans et des départs à l'Indy 500 et au Rallye Dakar.
